Almost every houseplant grower runs into it eventually: the tips of the leaves turn brown, go dry and papery, and crisp up at the very ends. It looks like the plant is dying from the outside in, and it's frustrating precisely because the rest of the plant often looks perfectly healthy.

They're a symptom — the visible result of one underlying problem: the leaf is losing water from its tips faster than the roots can resupply it. The fix is a steady rhythm rather than a rigid schedule. 2. Overwatering and root damage (the counterintuitive one)
Here's the twist that fools people constantly: chronically overwatered plants get brown crispy tips too. It seems backwards — how can a plant that's swimming be short on water?
The answer is root rot. Roots sitting in soggy, airless soil suffocate and rot. Damaged roots can't move water into the plant, so even with plenty of moisture in the pot, the leaves are effectively cut off from supply. The tips brown exactly as if the plant were parched.

Which plants get brown tips most
